Philosophy of Options

Everyone has the capacity to learn and change. At Options Center for Health and Education, effective learning strategies enable students to think and solve problems with optimum success. If students know how to learn, they can acquire and process information more fully and easily.

Learning How to Learn

Programs at Options are designed to complement the traditional educational process. Students practice easy techniques that enable them to reach their full potential and enjoy positive attitudes toward learning.

Options Center uses a different approach than conventional learning centers, which have a greater focus on academic achievement through content and repetition.  With that approach, activities and instruction seem to zero in on helping the student know more, whether it be in reading, math, or general knowledge.  The focus is more on the “what” than the “how” of learning. At Options, the emphasis is more on learning skills and exercises rather than on content and repetition.

Whole Brain Learning

Options Center works mainly with students who have been labeled as dyslexic, ADD, ADHD, and learning disabled.  Programs are individualized to each student and focus on the physical and psychological components of the so-called “learning disabled” student.  This is done by using a variety of techniques, from integrating the dimensions of the brain to stress reeducation techniques.
